Another Tree has fallen....

We are not sure why, but since we have purchased the house 4 trees have fallen. My Dad and nephew have helped take the branches to the wood pile in the back yard and that we will be able to use for bond fires. Steve will stack up the rest in the next few weeks to use for future fireplace burning.

Finding those deals

This last two weeks we've been focused on getting a new car, finding kitchen appliances, and working on 5220 Butler Street. My lease is up on my Prius and it was time to make a decision. I am really not into cars. If I had it my way I would be driving something from the 50's or 60's. Steve decided because my Prius was a basic model, it would be better to find the same car with upgrades. He's currently driving home from Philadelphia after picking up our new Prius that he purchased on Ebay. Let's just say, the new car is a nicer model with less mileage. It's fully loaded (whatever that means) for less than I would pay for my current Prius. Only downfall was Steve had to walk 25 minutes in the rain to get the Megabus this morning. I am very jealous because he stopped at Terrain www.terrain.com on the way home and I am waiting to see what presents if any he has bought me. What can fit in the back of a Prius?
Yesterday we made a down payment on kitchen appliances. Steve has been corresponding with a man from Craigslist who is selling his families 3 year old kitchen. The whole kitchen is for sale for $17,000 including the cabinets, countertops and appliances. Steve offered to buy just the appliances and after a month the man got back to him and said we could come take a look. The stove, fridge, and dishwasher (i haven't had a dishwasher in 6 years and really excited about this) are in perfect shape. We made a down payment and hopefully Steve can pick these up next week and start working on renovating the kitchen.
We've also been trying to get 5220 freshened up. We've been painting, staining and fixing the porch and basically cleaning it up in preparation for our move.... someday. I've started packing up Steve's books which means I am very anxious to move. After six years and lots of car break ins I am ready for a little quieter and safer way of life.

Jurassic Junk

My brother in law owns a business named Jurassic Junk. I am so thankful that with the help of my brother in law, Steve and my 15 year old nephew they loaded up one dump truck and removed a lot of the debris. This took a total of 1 hr and I am so thankful that old hot tub is gone! There is no way a dumpster would have fit on our new property and we saved a lot of time and money getting a local business to come help us. www. jurassic-junk.com

New windows in sunroom

No new blog posts does not mean Steve and I haven't been working at the new house. Things have been very busy over the past few weeks at bloom skin care, so I haven't had a chance to post. The pictures above are the new windows that Steve picked up in Maryland from an ad on Craigslist. He paid $75.00 per window. These window's retail for $300. He also picked up new french doors about 15 minutes away. The doors were also purchased from Craigslist for $200. A contractor who is designing a speakeasy explained that the owner no longer wanted to use them and they were most likely going to throw them in the trash. Even if we don't find a place for them in the house we can still make some money selling them if we need to. Steve has started framing the inside of the windows with barn wood that was purchased from a farm in Harmony PA for $50.00
